The Fairtrade Christmas Tree was in good place again this year in St Peter’s. The Christmas Tree Festival attracted a record number of visitors which enjoyed the lovely atmosphere and could get acquainted with all the active Sudbury Associations which we are proud to be part of.
Over half-term (Oct 26th-Nov 3rd 2013) , the Sudbury Fairtrade Group invited everyone to spot some of the shops and other organisations which support Fairtrade. We are grateful to the 11 local shops which displayed a Fairtrade poster and to Waitrose for donating the prizes.
A Fairtrade prize
was given to a correct entry with the best Tiebreaker. The prizes kindly donated by Waitrose were presented by David Ayre, the Personnel Manager of Waitrose, Sudbury.
The After School Fairtrade Fun Fete took place in St Peter’s the 9th May and attracted enthusiastic children (and parents) from the area. They enjoyed the bouncy castle and various traditional games.

St Peter’s was buzzing with activity; children throwing hoops, watching puppets, making banana splits, creating friendship bracelets, spotting Fairtrade hidden objects, sewing bananas, drinking refreshments, bouncing and more besides!
Thanks to all organisations, companies, charities and individuals efforts, Sudbury has been granted Fairtrade status. The group has recently received some significant grants towards maintaining this website. Thanks are due to Suffolk County Councillor, Colin Spence, who has paid to secure our domain for the next three years. Sudbury Town Council has agreed to pay for ongoing website management costs over the coming year. We are also grateful to Babergh District Council for subsidising our training to run this website.’
Next Fairtrade Meeting:

The Sudbury Fairtrade group had a stall for awareness raising at the Exhibition “Sudbury on Show” : over 100 local clubs and societies were displaying and advertising their activities in the Town Hall and in St Peter’s. A great opportunity for Fairtrade Sudbury to be “on show” and interact with the other groups.
