Sudbury on Show  Saturday Feb 2 2013 – 9:30 – 3:00

Exhibition “Sudbury on Show” : over 100 local clubs and societies will display and advertise their activities. Setting up Friday 12-4pm. The Fairtrade group has a stall for awareness raising. Please join the fun.

Fairtrade Children’s event. Moved to 14th March 2013 3-5pm

The Fairtrade Children’s event will take place in St Peter’s Hall on 14th March. There will be a bouncy castle and various children games with the Fairtrade products theme (Pineapple, banana etc). Raffle hamper with Fairtrade Easter Eggs.

Anesta Newson, Ceo of the Bridge Project, received in January 2013 a Fairtrade pledge Certificate for using Fairtrade beverages and biscuits on the premises of their offices and serving them at the Bradbury Courtyard cafe.
The Bridge Project was setup in 1995 as a local charity to assist disadvantaged adults within the community.The project strives to work towards its vision, ‘a community within a community’, an inclusive place where everybody is treated fairly, with dignity and respect. Vocational training, continual education and employment opportunities are provided that are fully accessible in a safe supportive and welcoming environment for adults who face multiple disadvantage through their learning, physical and or ‘hidden’ disabilities.

The Sudbury Fairtrade Committee is very grateful for the continuing support of multiple local community organisations, particularly within “HIVE” , the new group of organisations which helps sustain voluntary and community services in Sudbury and the surrounding villages.

The Fairtrade Christmas Tree was in good place at the annual Sudbury Christmas Tree Festival in St Peters where people flocked to marvel at 90 decorated trees. This is the second year Fairtrade is present at these festivities where more than 3000 adults along with many more children came along.

A Fairtrade display and Fairtrade chocolate brownies were on offer for the Big Fair Bake as part of the Kettle & Fish regular tea and cake event in St Peter’s .

Judith and Malcolm Offord received the 1st November 2012 the Fairtrade Pledge Certificate from Sue Kistruck – committee member for serving regularly Fairtrade tea/coffee/sugar/chocolate to their guests at their B&B The Cabin-Sudbury.

Generally a success, plenty of clothes and accessories, about 120 people attended including a good number of young people. Plenty of help and good refreshments. Fairtrade wine donated by Waitrose was appreciated and Harry’s nuts. Thank you to all those who set up and dismantled the catwalk in St Peter’s.
Traidcraft stall did very well. Rose Loye spoke well about Fairtrade particularly related to the clothes and accessories.
